it's good to be the king

photo from impawards.com

saw this movie the other day at CC village east... loved it! full of unbelievably beautiful clothes, the film is a fascinating portrait of valentino and his partner giancarlo giametti. considering the economic climate, i can see how critics would find this movie narcissistic and escapist. i didn't feel that way, but you'll have to decide for yourself. if anything, go for milton, monty, maude, maggie, margot, and molly - valentino's adorable sextet of pugs!

if you are in the city, the film is moving to the angelika film center this weekend, and there will be a talkback friday evening, may 29th, at the 7:15pm showing with director matt tyrnauer.

green machine

photo from cenyc.org

a couple of weeks ago, i treated my boyfriend to one of the greenmarket-to-table events sponsored by greenmarket and saveur magazine. it was an incredible experience; we ate amazing food and we both learned so much. since going, i've been doing my best to shop the greenmarket more often. i've picked up some fresh bread, salad greens, and potatoes, and i'm eagerly awaiting all the yummy fruits and vegetables to come this summer! it's a great place to grocery shop, at least for me, because i can control how much i want. so many times i end up throwing out perfectly good produce because i simply can't eat it all before it goes bad! plus, it's always a treat to eat seasonally.

i also wanted to post about it just to shout out to the events greenmarket does - tickets are really an amazing gift for a foodie. the next one is a meal and a tour of the union square market with chef michael anthony of gramercy tavern! check out the market website.

la vie en rose

first off, sorry for taking so long to take to the blog. school is over and i really have nothing to do now, so i should be on here a lot more often!

i'm heading to europe this summer, and my boyfriend and i are planning a week or so in paris. i've been to europe, but never to the city of light, so i'm really excited! i've been spending a lot of time poring over b&b websites, looking at eurorail fares, and daydreaming about fresh pastry. in my attempt to immerse myself in everything french, i discovered do it in paris, this amazingly helpful and impossibly chic little blog all about the city. what do do, where to shop, what to eat - everything's here. i also love the illustrations that decorate the site, aren't they great?

any suggestions for where to go/what to do?
